on Refinery 29!!

i'm an avid reader of refinery29 (how else would i know that the flower child look is back for spring/summer? yay!)  anyways, i digress.  today the fashion forward site psoted their "Complete Wedding Inspiration Guide"  and so many of my favorite blogs were included: Once Wed, Cup of Jo, 100 Layer Cake and Green Wedding Shoes.  Imagine my surprise when scolling through i noticed TWO images from my own work.  An image from our most recent bash, please shoot inspired by Johnny & June (more on that later) was featured in the collage for Once Wed and our Peony Box for 100 Layer Cake!  thanks refinery29!

100 Layer Cake Guest Post

Happy Friday Loves!  I'm off to Indio, CA to set up at an event for Stagecoach.  Then i'll be enjoying the desert weather for a few days - lucky me!  Before I depart, i wanted to share some images from my guest post series on 100 Layer Cake this week.  The girls were nice enough to invite me to share some centerpiece ideas with their readers while Kristina is enjoying her little bundle of joy on maternity leave.  I had a great time working with my mister to come up with everyday objects to use and upcycle to create some unique centerpieces.  I really love how they turned out and I hope you do too.  You can see the full posts with DIY instructions here, here, and here

One of my favorites, the cinder block centerpiece didnt run, so I'll share it with you here:

A cinder block as wedding décor?  Why not?  These inexpensive building materials clean up quite nice.

Onto the makeover.

First, using acrylic paint I painted each cinder block with the corresponding table number.  It helps to trace an outline of the number in pencil first.  If you’re unsure of your painting skills you can find stencils to use as a guide for your numbers.   To create the arrangement, you’ll need a glass container that fits snuggly inside the center and a couple small pin frogs, or one big one.  Simply place the glass container inside the middle of the cinder block.  Affix the pin frogs and add water.  Arrange your flowers with rustic flair and you’ve got yourself a centerpiece.

Don’t you just love how the rough cinder block plays against the delicate nature of these flowers?  Gorgeous.

Martha Stewart : Pretty in Pink!

we're tickled pink!  Bash, Please (me and Paige, obvs) styled this photoshoot for Martha Stewart's wedding blog!  Our parameters: "make it pink!"  dream come true (especially for pink-loving Paige).  For this shoot we visited the kids table and created our vision just for the littlest guests.  We had just about the cutest models you could imagine (and they work for cookies) ;)  The lovely Bonnie Tsang worked her magic with the kiddies to shoot these amazing images.  Jaime from Prudent Baby created those sweet headpieces and that darling bowtie.  Danielle from Bittersweet gave us all one gorgeous sugar high.  Read the full post here.

A succulentLOVE collaboration

the uber talented Jen Kuroki and I have partnered up for a little collab.  You see, Jen makes these amazing ceramic containers and she approached me to do something custom for succulentLOVE.  The lovable, impish beastie you see above is the result of our little tryst. cute right?  these guys are available as part of a VERY limited edition starting next week for $95.  Don't worry, when they run out we'll make more - it will just take some patience on your part.  :)  We'll be offering these guys and some other equally adorable designs in the months to come.
